Mike Schmidt Age 11
Mike takes first place in the intermediate level at MIA Skate Park's contest on February 28th. This young skater has been skating since he was two years old. He skated in two heats during this contest and was the only skater to accomplish two perfect runs. With the continued support from his parents, Mike is going to be great. Encouragement is the backbone for success.

The event was very positive for viewers and contestants. The comraderie was palpable. It was my first event and I don't skate, but was very excited for everyone competing. I felt like I was seeing some future professionals. I also felt that MIA encouraged those who did well as well as those who were just beginning. Julie
